What is better in sports than a mythical rivalry?
The most emotional rivalry in the French championship of today is probably the IFK-PUC derby. The two top teams so far this season, seem to love to hate each other and clashes in recent years show for it.
In 07-08 P.U.C dropped a hopeful IFK team already in the semi-finals (2-6), but it was in the 08-09 campaign it started to get grumpy and edgy. A dramatic regular season game left IFK with enough hope for a playoff payback. But PUC answered back in the spectacular final later that spring. Perhaps did some individual (mis)behaviour in that final also set the tone for the peaking emotions in the semi-final game the year after. This time IFK, slight favorites, won comparably easy (6-2) but the emotions definitely ran over in the final seconds.
Both teams have won all their games this season so far, collecting 8 points each. Hunting teams will catch up on at least one of them.

A Swedish proverb says ”gammal är äldst” (=old is older). The first weekend of the 2009-2010 campaign in the French championship, showed just that - more experience beats experience.
